Further Research

We have listed about 260.000 names in our database. Given that about 1.800.000 people left their home countries Baden, Württemberg or Hohenzollern during the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries, it seems to be a very small number. We know about the problem, but we hope that, in the years to come, we will be able to considerably raise the number - with the help of local researchers and our other users.

If you did not find your ancestor in our database it doesn't mean that any further search might not be successful.

The archivists of the Land Baden-Württemberg will support you whereever they can. But the shortage of staff does not allow them to search personally for you in the relevant records. But they will introduce you to professional genealogists, who will do the work for you at a charge. Moreover, we have listed additional sources in the Landesarchiv, we inform about other institutions in Baden-Württemberg that might keep relevant sources and we introduce further emigration databases.
