How to use the records

Archival objects are an irreplaceable cultural asset. As unique sources of historical research, they have to be preserved forever. This is why it is essential to treat the documents we supply with reasonable care.

There are special regulations displayed in the reading rooms (Lesesaalordnung):

If an original document is a very delicate one and if it is at risk of being damaged then the user has to be satisfied with a microfilm produced to protect the original. These films can be read with the help of a reader printer and a copy can be made for personal use.
