Users are not allowed to photograph, scan or duplicate archival material in one way or another. Every reading room provides a self-service scanner for working copies only. Users are allowed to use these scanners against payment of a fee. It is not permitted, though, to scan documents younger than 110 years, documents difficult to manage, or easily damageable documents. (For further information, please note the current Lesesaalordnung).
Additional copies, photos and castings of seals will be produced by expert personnel on the premises of the Landesarchiv, insofar as any damage to the original can be excluded. A wide selection of forms of reproduction are available, ranging from a simple copy for working purposes to a high-resolution picture file suitable for printing. All services and charges can be found under Landesarchivgebührenordnung (fees and charges of the Landesarchiv).
Order forms can be obtained online under Bestellung von Reproduktionen (ordering reproductions) and from the supervisory personnel of the reading room, who will also take your orders. If the exact archival signature and page numbers are known, these can also be given directly to the relevant state archive. The copies and reproductions will then be ready to be collected by you after a certain processing time in the corresponding archive. These can also be dispatched or made available via an ftp-download.
Reproductions of archival material may only be reproduced in print or as an electronic reproduction, published or passed on to third parties with the permission of the relevant archive department stating the stipulated signature given. The details required for approval are to be entered on the form Antrag auf Antrag auf Reproduktionsgenehmigung (Request for the approval of a reproduction).
